Stressless recliners are made in Norway by Ekornes. A Scandinavian furniture manufacturer who has been making these chairs & ottomans since 1971. The company was originally founded by J.E. Ekornes back in the 1930’s. Ekornes started out building steel spring components for the mattress industry. Very motivated to make a product better J.E. I used to make all the furniture we show in our store but little by little we started adding furniture made by others when we ran across something we really thought well of. Ekornes wooed us on and off for ten years. I kept saying “no, you’re barking up the wrong tree, I’m the little wood guy, this isn’t meant to be here”. Well, let me tell you, I couldn’t have been more wrong!! Finally, 11 months ago, I agreed to include Ekornes in our offering. Oh my goodness!! They sell like hotcakes, they’re absolutely brilliant, totally comfortable, extremely well-designed. It’s a pretty wide range of people who buy Ekornes Stressless recliners and sofas. Sometimes it’s folks with lower back pain that are looking for furniture with better support. Or sometimes folks just wanting a more comfortable chair for reading or resting. So they make great chairs for everyone.
