Ekornes Stressless furniture originates from Norway. This Scandinavian furniture manufacturer was founded back in the 1930’s by a man by the name of Jens Ekornes. The company’s original direction was in building steel components for the mattress industry. Always looking for a way to build a better product Jens Ekornes took it upon himself to create his own line of mattresses and hence the brand Svane was created. Through the years Ekornes would continue to grow the company and it ventured into producing furniture components which then led it into building club furniture such as sofas, loveseats and matching tables. In 1971 Ekornes would introduce the Stressless recliner to the world which still features many patented features not found in any other recliner in the world.
